Summary: You know him, you love him, it's Godzilla himself again. And this time, there’s very little room for all of those Showa theatrics. Get ready to crumble once more.
History: While the Godzilla of 1954 still exists in this canon, this time it took thirty years for another to rise and take his place. This Godzilla was just as aggressive and just as hard to kill. And of course, he would be subject to a slew of kaiju fights against either mankind's protectors (like Mothra and Mechagodzilla) or its greatest threats (like King Ghidorah and Destroyah). Oh, and there were some time travelling shenanigans halfway through, but that didn't change much (the Futurians were kind of idiots). And he adopted a son too! A way more dignified one at that!
Notable Kills: Nothing special.
Final Fate: Once again, Godzilla had a fair share of wins and losses. But it all ended rather tragically. Godzilla's heart went into a state of meltdown, and after barely defeating Destroyah, the monster king had to be frozen a bit before his body melted into nothingness. However, his energy revived his then-dead son, ensuring that the legacy of Godzilla would never die.
Powers/Abilities: The same stuff from before, but after Rodan gave his soul to his then-dead body (long story), Godzilla gained the Spiral Beam, which is basically his thermonuclear breath except it's red and ten times as powerful.
Weakness: Godzilla's second brain in his back (yes, he has one) can be destroyed to ensure his demise. He can also be incapacitated by the nuclear reaction-slowing element, Cadmium. However, he can also go into 'meltdown' mode if left to live long enough due to his heart being a literal nuclear reactor.
Scariness Factor: 4.5-As usual, Godzilla's sheer ferocity and power evokes awe and fear among all. He's also a bit meaner than his previous outings, so there's that. At least he got better in disposition in the later movies...a pity he almost took the world with him in his death throes.
Trivia: -"Heisei" refers to the current period in Japan that began when Emperor Hirohito's son Akihito took his place in 1989 after his death. A bit ironic that Godzilla came back four years before this period got named.
-Godzilla's pre-mutated form, the Godzillasaurus, was the result of concept artist Shinji Nishikawa denying the idea that Godzilla was mutated from a simple T-Rex, as previously believed.
